It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this success following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
